“Biomethane Day”, a meeting organised by the Italian Biogas Consortium (CIB), Assogasmetano and NGV Italy in partnership with CNH Industrial and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, was held yesterday in Isola della Scala (Verona, Italy). Italian Government representatives in attendance at the event included Barbara Degani, the Undersecretary for the Environment and Giuseppe Castiglione, the Undersecretary for Agriculture.
The meeting took place before over 100 participants, including institutional stakeholders as well as stakeholders from agricultural, industrial, natural gas and biomethane for transport sectors. It provided an opportunity to explore the event’s setting: La Torre, a Zootechnical Agricultural Cooperative in Isola della Scala. La Torre serves as a real world case study for how the use of biomethane can improve the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises, develop innovation and create stable jobs. Continue reading
LC3, a customer of CNH Industrial’s commercial vehicles brand Iveco, will provide transport and logistics services to multinational supermarket chain Lidl with a fleet of 15 Stralis Natural Power heavy trucks powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) engines manufactured by sister company FPT Industrial. This new affiliation further reinforces CNH Industrial’s position as the European leader in natural gas vehicles.
The Gazprom Board of Directors took notice of the information about the Company’s efforts aimed at amplifying the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel.
Centric Sweden, a staffing and recruitment solutions firm for the technology and health industries, has made the official switch to Volvo V60 and V70 Bi-Fuel Wagons with Westport’s technology for their fleet operations. The company had previously been using only Volkswagen Passat EcoFuel vehicles in their fleet. 
Volvo Trucks is expanding its model range in Europe with a new version of the Volvo FE running entirely on methane gas. The Volvo FE CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) has been primarily developed for operations involving short driving cycles with repeated starts and stops such as refuse collection and local distribution. It is equipped with a new 9-litre Euro 6 gas-powered engine featuring spark plug technology and automatic transmission.
In cooperation with Van Hool, Scania is offering a new bus model for city or BRT routes that can operate on either biomethane or CNG and features a unique combination of capacity and low environmental impact. As well as being energy efficient, the Scania Van Hool Exqui.City bus also offers a light and spacious interior with an eye-catching articulated body that is reminiscent of a tram, thus combining the best of both worlds: the image and efficiency of a tram with the flexibility and cost levels of a bus system.
UK logistics company Howard Tenens will shortly take delivery of the first Euro 6 dual-fuel CNG vehicle in Europe. Howard Tenens and Prins Autogas have successfully converted a Mercedes-Benz Actros Euro 6 type vehicle to run on duel fuel — Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and diesel. The innovation provides a solution to the conundrum facing the dual-fuel vehicle technology industry in adapting a Euro 6 type vehicle to run using the carbon saving technology.
