New trucks from Volvo running on LNG offer the same performance as diesel, but with 20-100% lower CO₂ emissions
Volvo Trucks is now introducing Euro 6-compliant heavy duty trucks running on liquefied natural gas or biogas. The new trucks have the same performance, driveability and fuel consumption as Volvo’s diesel-powered models. Furthermore, the new trucks’ CO₂ emissions are 20–100 per cent lower compared with diesel, depending on choice of fuel. The new Volvo FH LNG and Volvo FM LNG are available with 420 or 460 hp for heavy regional and long-haul operations.

RAG, Ennshafen OÖ GmbH and Iveco Austria today opened Austria’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station at Ennshafen port as part of the Zukunftsforum LNG conference. The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Upper Austria, Michael Strugl, as well as other prominent guests from the worlds of politics and business.
IVECO, a pioneer in Natural Gas technologies for the transport industry, is taking part in this year’s “Blue Corridor-2017: Iberia – Baltia’ Rally with the Stralis NP, the first natural gas truck specifically designed for long-haul operations that can run on Compressed or Liquid Natural Gas. With its participation, the brand aims to support the development of natural gas, which it views as the best and the only mature alternative fuel for a sustainable transport industry.
LADA Vesta CNG can use both gasoline and methane as fuel. Methane is the safest, environmentally friendly and inexpensive type of fuel. Its use increases the life of the engine and reduces fuel costs by more than 3 times. In addition, this gas is effectively dispersed in the atmosphere in the event of a leak, ensuring fire safety. Let’s remind that propane-butane gas, used in the outdated systems, accumulates in the place of leakage and is explosive.
The European Commission has approved 10 million euros worth of funding for the development of the European ECO-GATE project, a global action plan in developing mobility with CNG and LNG in Europe, headed by GAS NATURAL FENOSA through the distributor Gas Natural Madrid, who will be responsible for managing and coordinating the project.
On Tuesday, June 20th, IVECO took part in the inauguration of the G7allery, an exhibition devoted to innovation that presents the best projects on sustainability applied to the world of infrastructure and transport. The G7 Transport’s opening event was promoted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with the call for practice “Nice to meet you G7”, which has collected over 400 best practices, seven of which were exhibited during the event.

We have proved that the Bergen lean-burn, pure gas, medium-speed engine range, combined with efficient hull designs, can help customers, like Torghatten Nord, cut their ships’ emissions and fuel bills significantly.”
The two companies agreed to develop integrated cooperation in gas and aim to jointly implement gas projects in Russia and abroad focused on gas exploration and production, LNG production, supply and marketing.
