Volvo introduces new LNG truck

New trucks from Volvo running on LNG offer the same performance as diesel, but with 20-100% lower CO₂ emissions

Volvo LNG TruckVolvo Trucks is now introducing Euro 6-compliant heavy duty trucks running on liquefied natural gas or biogas. The new trucks have the same performance, driveability and fuel consumption as Volvo’s diesel-powered models. Furthermore, the new trucks’ CO₂ emissions are 20–100 per cent lower compared with diesel, depending on choice of fuel. The new Volvo FH LNG and Volvo FM LNG are available with 420 or 460 hp for heavy regional and long-haul operations.

RAG Austria LNG stationRAG, Ennshafen OÖ GmbH and Iveco Austria today opened Austria’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station at Ennshafen port as part of the Zukunftsforum LNG conference. The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Upper Austria, Michael Strugl, as well as other prominent guests from the worlds of politics and business.

RAG completed construction of Austria’s first LNG filling station in a period of just a few weeks, and it is now open to the public.

“This is a milestone in establishing LNG as an environmentally friendly fuel for goods vehicles, and RAG is making a highly important contribution to achieving Austria’s climate targets. Thanks to our filling station, LNG has finally arrived in the country,” commented Markus Mitteregger, RAG’s Chief Executive Officer, on offering a competitive, clean and affordable alternative to conventional fuels for goods transportation by road.

AVTOVAZ Group has started production of a dual-fuel version of LADA Vesta CNG. For the first time in the history of the brand, the dealers will get a car with the serial compressed-gas equipment designed for the use of compressed natural gas.

The European ECO-GATE project, is being funded by the EU in order to develop the natural gas market for mobility

The European Union approved 10 million euros worth of funding for the ECO-GATE project, which will be managed and coordinated by GAS NATURAL FENOSA, as the leader of a consortium made up of natural gas operators, technology and service providers, end users and marketing and promotion knowledge experts in Spain, Portugal, France and Germany.

The project will involve the construction of more than 20 gas refuelling stations along the Atlantic and Mediterranean Corridors of the Spanish, French, German and Portuguese road networks.

ECO-GATE projectThe European Commission has approved 10 million euros worth of funding for the development of the European ECO-GATE project, a global action plan in developing mobility with CNG and LNG in Europe, headed by GAS NATURAL FENOSA through the distributor Gas Natural Madrid, who will be responsible for managing and coordinating the project.

Rolls-Royce will Supply 15 LNG Engines for New Ferries

Rolls-Royce has signed a deal to supply 15 LNG Engines to Norwegian Ferry Company, Torghatten Nord AS.

The LNG Engines will power five Multi Maritime designed LNG ferries operating between Bergen and Stord.

BP and Rosneft agree strategic cooperation in natural gas and LNG business

Rosneft and BP have signed yesterday an agreement on strategic cooperation in natural gas and LNG and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in respect to the sale and purchase of natural gas in Europe. The documents were signed at the XXI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

BPThe two companies agreed to develop integrated cooperation in gas and aim to jointly implement gas projects in Russia and abroad focused on gas exploration and production, LNG production, supply and marketing.

Rosneft and BP also reconfirmed their mutual interest in cooperation in European gas marketing. According to the MoU, Rosneft and BP’s wholly-owned subsidiary BP Gas Marketing Limited will enter into a long-term sales and purchase agreement for the supply of natural gas produced by Rosneft in order to ensure delivery of additional Russian gas supplies to European markets starting from 2019. This MoU is another milestone in the development of strategic cooperation between Rosneft and BP.

Total is acquiring the Dutch company PitPoint B.V., Europe’s third-largest provider of natural gas vehicle fuel.

PitPoint B.V. is a market-leading integrated independent in alternative fuels with a network of around 100 natural gas fueling stations. The company is also involved in biogas, hydrogen and electric vehicle charging points for road and maritime transport. PitPoint B.V. has been growing strongly in several European countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
