GAZPROM Germania invests in Baden-Württemberg

GAZPROM GermaniaGAZPROM Germania GmbH is expanding its network of natural gas filling stations. GAZPROM Germania and German utility EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) today signed an agreement that will see GAZPROM Germania acquire four natural gas filling stations in Stuttgart and Nagold from EnBW on 1 May 2015.

“With this acquisition, we’re advancing the further expansion of our network of natural gas filling stations in Germany, and, for the first time, making a contribution to making mobility in Baden-Württemberg more environmentally friendly”, says Timo Vehrs, Director of Business Development at GAZPROM Germania. The acquisition will bring the number of natural gas filling stations GAZPROM Germania operates in Germany to 28. GAZPROM Germania plans to be running 35 stations by the end of 2015.

“We’re very happy to have found a reliable partner in GAZPROM Germania that will keep serving our customers and keep the stations operating in the long term”, says Volkmar Langefeld, Group Expert for Gas at EnBW.

Netze BW GmbH, which has been operating the filling stations on behalf of EnBW, will continue to operate the filling stations. Motorists with EnBW customer cards will be sent information about future arrangements as soon as possible.

Natural gas is becoming increasingly important as a fuel for motor vehicles. There are almost 100,000 natural gas vehicles registered in Germany, and that number is increasing: Last year, Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority registered over 9,100 new natural gas commercial vehicles and cars – 2.3 % more than in the previous year.
